MCG School of Nursing hosts Non-Food Halloween Festival

MCG dental student founds club to help Hispanics

AUGUSTA, Ga. – A new Medical College of Georgia organization serving the health care needs of Hispanics will participate in a free community health fair Oct. 24. SANO (Serving All Health Care Needs of Hispanics) is an organization for all faculty, residents, students and staff interesting in planning health-related events for the Hispanic community, learning more about the culture and brushing up on the Spanish language.  
 
Ten Clinical Nurse Leader students awarded $10,000 scholarships

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ten Medical College of Georgia nursing students have received $10,000 scholarships from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program. Clinical Nurse Leader Program students Joshua Dunn, Aleshia Edwards, Tamiracle Ezell, Dayne Godwin, Tehrae Heflin, Patrick Hosey, Audrey Kim, Angel Mobley, Alexias Register and Lee Sullivan are the 2009-10 recipients. The program aims to alleviate a statewide nursing shortage by offering accelerated training for people with degrees in other fields. 
 
School of Nursing hosts information session Oct. 24

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Individuals interested in advanced nursing education at the Medical College of Georgia can learn more about the graduate programs at the School of Nursing's annual Fall Information Session, Oct. 24. The free session, held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. in the Health Sciences Building, 987 St. Sebastian Way, will feature presentations and breakout sessions from graduate program directors representing the school's eight programs. 
 
MCG nursing student receives Stepanek Scholarship

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Stacy Creighton, senior in the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing at Athens, received one of four 2009 Mattie J.T. Stepanek Caregiving Scholarships from the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving.

Dr. Thomas Named Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar

Dr. Tami Thomas, an assistant professor at the School of Nursing at the Medical College of Georgia, has won a competitive grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to study strategies to slow the spread of viral sexually transmitted infections in rural communities.
