Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home will hold Veterans Day ceremony

The Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home will hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 11 in the courtyard. Col. John K. Dewey, the Training and Doctrine Command capability manager for tactical radios at Fort Gordon, will be the guest speaker and Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver will make opening remarks.

Dentistry dean will give State of the School address Oct. 31

Dr. Connie Drisko, dean of the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry, will give the State of the School Address at noon Friday, Oct. 31 in the Natalie and Lansing B. Lee Jr. Large Auditorium in the Auditoria Center. 
 
School of Nursing hosts Non-Food Trick-or-Treat

The Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing will host its second annual Non-Food Halloween Festival Thursday, Oct. 30 from 3-5:30 p.m. on the fourth and fifth floors of the Health Sciences Building.  
 
Physical therapy students put the fun in exercise

Physical therapy students in the Medical College of Georgia School of Allied Health Sciences will show some eighth-graders how to exercise and have fun. The students will visit C.T. Walker Traditional Magnet School Oct. 29 in honor of National Physical Therapy Month.  
 
Nursing dean will give State of the School address Sept. 25

Dr. Lucy Marion, dean of the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing, will give the State of the School Address at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25 in Room 1210 of the Health Sciences Building. 
 
MCG celebrates Family Day Sept. 20

Families and friends of first-year Medical College of Georgia students will get a glimpse of student life at Family Day Saturday, Sept. 20. A reception for the Schools of Allied Health Sciences, Dentistry, Graduate Studies and Nursing will begin at 9 a.m. outside the Student Center. Provost Barry Goldstein will welcome attendees at 10 a.m. in the Natalie and Lansing B. Lee Jr. Auditorium in the MCG AuditoriaCenter. Activities including building tours and presentations from students and faculty will begin at 10:30 a.m. in each of the schools. 
 
Occupational therapy students to teach backpack tips

Occupational therapy students in the Medical College of Georgia School of Allied Health Sciences will help local elementary students lighten their load for National School Backpack Awareness Day. The event aims to educate children, parents and teachers about the health problems associated with heavy or improperly worn backpacks.
