The 10,000-member section develops ideas and programs to improve the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Dr. Smith was elected at the organization's annual national conference in October for the yearlong post.

Clinical Nurse Leader Program students Joshua Dunn, Aleshia Edwards, Tamiracle Ezell, Dayne Godwin, Tehrae Heflin, Patrick Hosey, Audrey Kim, Angel Mobley, Alexias Register and Lee Sullivan are the 2009-10 recipients. The program aims to alleviate a statewide nursing shortage by offering accelerated training for people with degrees in other fields.
