MCG resident elected to American Academy of Pediatrics post Publish Date: 03-NOV-2009 08:56 AM AUGUSTA, Ga. – Dr. Joshua Smith, a third-year pediatric resident in the Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine, has been named chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics' Section on Medical Students, Residents and Fellowship Trainees.
The 10,000-member section develops ideas and programs to improve the care of infants, children, adolescents and young adults. Dr. Smith was elected at the organization's annual national conference in October for the yearlong post.

Ten Clinical Nurse Leader students awarded $10,000 scholarships Publish Date: 19-OCT-2009 04:02 PM AUGUSTA, Ga. – Ten Medical College of Georgia nursing students have received $10,000 scholarships from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation New Careers in Nursing Scholarship Program.
Clinical Nurse Leader Program students Joshua Dunn, Aleshia Edwards, Tamiracle Ezell, Dayne Godwin, Tehrae Heflin, Patrick Hosey, Audrey Kim, Angel Mobley, Alexias Register and Lee Sullivan are the 2009-10 recipients. The program aims to alleviate a statewide nursing shortage by offering accelerated training for people with degrees in other fields.
